Shimono has lent his voice to a long list of animes that includes Attack on Titan (as Connie Springer), Uta no ☆ Prince-sama ♪ (as Sho Kurusu), and Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation (as Issa Kaburagi). In 2016, he launched a solo project to commemorate his 15th anniversary as a voice actor and has released three singles and a live concert DVD to this date. Unlike his voice acting persona, his style in music is rock. In April 2016, he performed in a solo live event at NHK Hall featuring his third single “Running High.”
アニメ「進撃の巨人」（コニー・スプリンガー）、うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪シリーズ（来栖翔）弱虫ペダル NEWGENERATION（鏑木一差）など、声優として数々の作品に出演する中、2016年声優デビュー15周年を記念してソロプロジェクトを始動。現在まで3枚のシングル、ライブDVDをリリース。普段の声優の顔とは違ったロックテイストなミュージックシーンを展開。
2016年4月には3rdシングル「Runnung High」を引っさげNHKホールでのライブイベントを開催した。
